Representatives of the University of West Bohemia visit UzhNU to discuss prospects for cooperation

Representatives of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic, visited Uzhhorod National University to discuss the prospects of establishing cooperation between the two universities and explore possible areas for future academic and research collaboration.

The delegation included Dr. Martin Kebza from the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Economics of the University of West Bohemia and his PhD student. The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the academic environment at UzhNU, exchange views on current challenges facing higher education and discuss possible forms of cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the prospects of developing cooperation in education and research, including opportunities for academic mobility, joint research activities and contacts between academic staff and students. Particular attention was paid to geography, regional development and related areas where the universities could potentially combine their academic expertise.

An important part of the discussion focused on the current situation of UzhNU and the challenges faced by the university community during Russia’s full scale war against Ukraine. The UzhNU representatives spoke about the university’s efforts to maintain the continuity of the educational process, support students and staff, continue research activities and develop international cooperation despite the difficult circumstances.

International partnerships are particularly important for Ukrainian universities today. Cooperation with European higher education institutions creates opportunities for academic exchange, joint research and the development of new educational initiatives, while also strengthening connections between Ukrainian and European academic communities.

The meeting with representatives of the University of West Bohemia marked an important first step towards establishing closer institutional links between the two universities. The participants expressed their interest in continuing communication and exploring concrete opportunities for cooperation in the future.

The visit demonstrated the importance of direct academic contacts and international dialogue, especially at a time when Ukrainian universities continue to work, develop and build new partnerships despite the challenges caused by the war.
