On Tuesday, 20 October, the first meeting of the Academic Council of Uzhhorod University was held. Of the 78 members of the first composition, 70 took part in the meeting, so a quorum was ensured.
The key issue of the meeting was the election of the Head of the Academic Council. In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", the head is elected by secret ballot from among the members of the council who hold a scientific degree or academic title. For a term of five years, the acting rector, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka was elected to this position.

The next block of issues concerned the regulatory support for the activities of the university's governing bodies. The Academic Council approved the Regulation defining its legal status, powers and principles of organisation of work. Regulations were also approved on the Scientific and Technical Council; on the Editorial and Publishing Council and on the Attestation Commission, which provides recommendations on the conferment of academic and honorary titles.
The Anti-Corruption Programme of Uzhhorod University for 2026–2028 was also adopted. In addition, candidates for members of the Supervisory Board of the university were submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The meeting was also an occasion to honour the university's scholars: they were ceremoniously awarded diplomas of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Sciences, as well as commendations. Photos can be viewed at the link.
