UzhNU scholars supported the new generation of researchers: the work of the Minor Academy of Sciences at Uzhhorod Scientific Lyceum has started
On 7 October 2026, on the basis of the Zakarpattia Regional Centre for Children's and Youth Creativity "PADIUN", the solemn opening of the branch of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Uzhhorod Scientific Lyceum of the Zakarpattia Regional Council took place.
Leading scholars of Uzhhorod National University joined the event to become mentors, consultants and reliable guides into the world of science for the future intellectual elite of Zakarpattia. The event was opened by the Director of the Lyceum, Olena Ishchenko, who wished the young researchers inspiration and courage in their scientific pursuits.
A kind of manifesto for the lyceum students was the speech by Vasyl Mishchanyn, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Modern History of Ukraine and Foreign Countries of the Faculty of History and International Relations of Uzhhorod University, who emphasised that science begins not with answers but with questions, and that the future belongs to those who are not afraid to ask them. He outlined in detail the specifics of the humanities block, in particular the sections of historical local studies, history of Ukraine, world history, ethnology and archaeology, noting that the university is ready to provide students with a strong scholarly base and consultative support.
Within the mathematics and digital fields, leading specialists of the institution spoke before the lyceum students: Hanna Slyvka-Tylyshchak, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of Probability Theory and Mathematical Analysis, Mariia Bortosh, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, lecturer of the Department of Algebra and Differential Equations, as well as Serhii Vapnichnyi, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Information Control Systems and Technologies. The natural sciences field, in particular current research in biology and physics, was presented by Vitalii Symochko, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology, and Vasyl Rubish, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics. Ivan Marionda, Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Master of Sports of Ukraine in athletics, spoke about the opportunities for scientific inquiry in the field of health and sports.
At the end of the meeting, the closing address to those present was given by Andrii Vartsaba, Director of the Zakarpattia Territorial Branch of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Deputy Director for Research Work of the Zakarpattia Regional Centre for Children's and Youth Creativity "PADIUN". He warmly congratulated the future scholars on the beginning of this important stage, wished them unwavering faith in their own strength, perseverance in solving complex tasks and new resounding discoveries that in the future will bring glory to their native Zakarpattia.
Throughout the academic year, the lyceum students, under the guidance of experienced mentors and professors of Uzhhorod University, will work on their own research, putting into practice the principles of consistent integration of secondary and higher education. Such cooperation demonstrates the consistent integration of secondary and higher education, creating a reliable foundation for the formation of a new generation of Ukrainian scholars.
