The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announces a competition for the award of scholarships of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for young scientists.
Submission of documents is carried out exclusively in electronic form through the National Electronic Scientific and Information System NAUKA. Access to the system for submitting documents was opened on 16 September 2026. The deadline for submitting documents is 13 October 2026.
The competition is held in accordance with the Regulation on scholarships of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for young scientists, approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 560 of 16 August 1994, as amended.
Within the framework of the competition, 190 scholarship places are provided. Scholarships are awarded by decision of the Presidium of the Committee for the National Prize of Ukraine named after Borys Paton for a term of two years and are paid at the place of main employment or study in addition to the official salary, personal or ordinary academic scholarship, additional payments and allowances.
Who may participate
Young scientists who, at the time of nomination, meet the definition of the term "young scientist" established by the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity" may participate in the competition.
These include scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers, postgraduate students, adjuncts, doctoral students and other young scientists of scientific institutions, organisations and higher education institutions.
Procedure for nominating candidates
Candidates for scholarships are nominated at the place of their main employment or study by academic, scientific, scientific-technical or technical councils.
Nomination of a candidate requires written recommendations from at least two doctors of sciences who are familiar with the scientific results and abilities of the applicant.
The decision on nominating a candidate is adopted by secret ballot and is considered adopted provided that it is supported by not less than two-thirds of the present members of the respective council.
Documents for participation in the competition
The applicant independently uploads electronic copies of the following documents to the NAUKA system:
- a cover letter;
- a letter of submission from the higher education institution or scientific institution indicating the scientific results of the applicant and the opportunities for conducting research;
- an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the respective council on the nomination of the applicant based on the results of the secret ballot;
- information about the applicant certified by the personnel department;
- recommendations from at least two doctors of sciences;
- a list of scientific publications over the last five years and copies of not more than three most important works;
- information about the scientific results of the applicant in the established form;
- a certificate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for the period from 01 September 2025 to 01 September 2026.
