UzhNU delegation visited Social Innovations Laboratory of Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania

For the second year in a row, the delegation of Uzhhorod National University has the opportunity to visit  Mykolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania). UzhNU delegation consisting of the head of the Department of Economic Theory Oleksandr Molnar, associate professor of the Department of Theory and History of Law Andriy Holovach, deputy head of the Department of International Educational and Scientific Cooperation Anna Kozhemyakina and Vice-rector for Academic Policy and Research, professor Ihor Korol, attended the opening ceremony of Social Innovations Laboratory, participated in annual international conference "Social innovations for global growth" and the SOCTECH consortium meeting.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius, the mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius, the chairman of the Seimas Vidas Hedvilas, ambassadors, ministers and partners from Japan, Korea and Ukraine.

In the Network Laboratory which consists of 19 laboratories of various directions international projects for government and business sectors are prepared and implemented in accordance with the new funding schemes. Scientists, researchers, students and social partners from other institutions and organizations are invited here in order to find solutions to the main problems of modern society. As the mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius noted in his speech, "Openness is a major part of the success that can allow the Laboratory to develop successfully."

Research results are immediately implemented in practice by public institutions and the things which existed in the form of ideas yesterday, work for the benefit of the state today. Perhaps, such fruitful symbiosis is the key to significant achievements of Lithuania in many areas of statehood formation.

 An important part of international cooperation is UzhNU participation in the work of Euro-Asian consortium SOCTECH and Vice-Rector of UzhNU Ihor Korol participated in its work. The issues of drafting grant proposals, the use of financial capacity of various funds and joint double degree programs were discussed during the meeting.

UzhNU representatives also met with the director of the Institute of International and European Law professor Saulis Katuoka, professor of the Institute of Management Alvidas Balezhentis, heads of newly opened laboratories and the head of International Cooperation Department. The possibility of training students of UzhNU at the Institute of International and European law, implementation of joint master programs were discussed. Chances of students of the Faculty of Information Technologies of UzhNU to participate in the summer school on programming held at the Mykolas Romeris University were also discussed. Lithuanian partners are interested in joint development of master's and doctoral double degree programmes in economics, particularly management.

While visiting a partner university, UzhNU representatives had a great opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Department for International Cooperation, discuss the features of its work and exchange experience. It was extremely interesting to talk to the head of the Department for International Cooperation Hedre Rachene, whose experience is noticeable even in the organization of international events.
