Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana Ivan Lukachuk and Donetsk National University Alumnus Joshua Asamoah Visit UzhNU
On July 31, 2025, Uzhhorod National University welcomed distinguished guests: Ivan Lukachuk, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana, and Joshua Asamoah, PhD in International Economics, a citizen of Ghana and a graduate of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University.
During their visit, the guests met with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at UzhNU, Myroslava Lendel, to discuss prospects for expanding international cooperation between Ukrainian and Ghanaian institutions of higher education. Particular attention was given to student academic mobility, the development of exchange programs, and promoting Ukrainian higher education among youth in West Africa.
The visit coincided with the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana, which officially began its work in 2023 following an initiative by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba. This step marked an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Ukraine and Ghana, especially in the field of education.
Ivan Lukianchuk emphasized the importance of enhancing the humanitarian dimension of Ukrainian-Ghanaian partnership through initiatives aimed at attracting international students to Ukrainian universities. In turn, Joshua Asamoah shared his personal story of studying in Ukraine and highlighted the value of the experience he gained, which laid the foundation for his professional development.
As a leading higher education institution in the Zakarpattia region, UzhNU is open to new forms of international collaboration and ready to contribute to expanding Ukraine’s academic presence in Africa.
