UZHNU HAS RECEIVED 30 COMPUTERS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE (UK)
Uzhhorod National University has received 30 computers from its British partner, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) as part of the «Twinning» support program for Ukrainian universities, implemented by Cormack Consultancy Group (UK) in partnership with the National Representation of Universities of the UK.
Some of the received computers have already been installed in the Information Technology Center, where since October 2022, in cooperation with civic organizations, courses for IDPs on the topic «Computer Literacy» have been held. The other ones will be installed in the Computer Class at the Faculty of History and International Relations (Narodna Square, 3) and the the newly created Project Office of UzhNU. The purpose of this space is to unite those who want to write and implement international projects, develop international cooperation of the university.
After the completion of the repair works the opening ceremony is being planned. The space will be named «The Ukrainian-British Friendship Chamber».
«We would like to express our gratitude to our British partner – UCLan – for friendly support and fruitful partnership. There have already been implemented certain projects and thus our researchers, students, employees have been provided with opportunities. Among these: online English language courses, which have been completed by approximately 150 people, English Summer School (on the premises of the premises of the branch of the UCLan in Cyprus), which is going to be held for the second consecutive year, and in which the best 20 students representing all faculties of Uzhhorod National University will take part this year» ‒ admitted the International Relations Department of Uzhhorod National University.
It should be stressed that in June 2022 UzhNU signed the agreement on cooperation with the University of Central Lancashire within the framework of the «Unification Initiative» program. Under this program, 25 Ukrainian and 25 British universities signed cooperation agreements.
During this period, UzhNU implemented the language project with the University of Central Lancashire, UzhNU students successfully undertook an internship in Cyprus related to improving their English language skills, 100 UzhNU employees, owing to the partner from the UK, used the opportunity to learn English for free with the experienced teachers of the University of Central Lancashire. There were also held joint research events and online discussions of researchers.
Recently, the UzhNU delegation, consisting of vice-rector Myroslava Lendel and the staff members of the International Relations Department, paid a working visit to the University of Central Lancashire in order to discuss further areas of partnership. During this visit, representatives of both universities, who deal with international cooperation and are responsible for students’ academic mobility, internships, teaching, discussed future plans for cooperating, searching grant programs, etcetera. There also took place productive working meetings with representatives of the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Humanities and Global Studies, and the Faculty of Natural Sciences which were aimed at determining the prospects of developing collaboration in specific directions.
