The Open Day was held in UzhNU

Schoolchildren had the opportunity to learn more about quality higher education at UzhNU, the specialties that can be studied at the university and the latest information on the admission rules during the Open Day, which took place on Thursday, February 16. The event was held in a mixed format, in addition to the offline meeting, it was also broadcasted online in YouTube.

The Open Day was moderated by Ihor Korol, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs: "We congratulate all our participants who joined the event online, because today we are being watched by schoolchildren from all over Zakarpattia and beyond. This is the first time this year we are holding the Open Day at the university. On this day, we open all the buildings of our university as much as possible, invite you to visit us, open our hearts to show UzhNU from the inside, its opportunities that you will meet when you study here."

At the beginning of the meeting, UzhNU Rector Volodymyr Smolanka emphasized: "We have been holding Open Days for several years now, and it is one of our favorite events. We are pleased to present our achievements, material and technical base, and our teachers. I would also like to mention three powerful arguments in favor of our university. First, Uzhhorod is now a calm and, without a doubt, the safest regional center in Ukraine. Secondly, our university is developing very dynamically. We are proud that UzhNU is one of the leading universities in Ukraine. We have more than 16 thousand students, and this year we are among the ten largest universities in Ukraine. We are also ranked 12th among the best universities in the country according to the TOP-200 Universities of Ukraine rating. And thirdly, and most importantly, I want to say that we value and love our students, we create an atmosphere of friendliness, mutual respect and support at the university. Friends, I have no doubt that Ukraine will win this war and become a successful developed European country. And we must contribute to this and do everything in our power to rebuild our country after the victory."

Next, the participants watched the video "Uzhhorod National University | Tour" prepared by the Center of Humanitarian and Educational Work, Career Guidance and Employment of UzhNU. In the video, the viewer takes a virtual tour of all UzhNU's academic departments and learns about the specialties at each of them.

Ivanna Stercho, Deputy Executive Secretary of the UzhNU Admissions Committee, spoke about the peculiarities of the NMT in 2023, the subjects to be taken, the preliminary terms of the admission campaign, and the opportunities for applying for various specialties. "This year, an applicant can submit up to five applications for state-funded places in open and fixed (closed) competitive offers. In total, you can submit up to twenty applications in total for all sources of funding, including budget and contract proposals," said Ivanna Stercho.

Volodymyr Rosokha, the director of the College of Natural Sciences and Humanities, spoke about the opportunities to study at UzhNU. "You can enter the college after completing the 9th grade, on the basis of basic secondary education, and after the 11th grade, on the basis of complete secondary education. This year's admission to the college is simplified, all documents, as in the entire university, are submitted in electronic form. This makes it possible for an applicant to apply to us wherever he or she is, even abroad."

At the Open Day, future applicants had the opportunity to ask questions to the university management and receive comprehensive answers. More details about the Open Day can be found in the video.
