The Department of Therapeutic Dentistry was one of the first opened departments with the organization of the Faculty of Dentistry in 2006.

From 2006 to 2020 the department was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Dobrovolska Mariamna Konstantinovna.

Since September 2020, Lyudmyla Fedorivna Gorzov, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, has been acting as the Head of the Department.

The staff of the department consists of 1 professor, 4 associate professors, 6 senior teachers, 4 assistants and 3 laboratory assistants, each of whom is an experienced specialist who is ready to help the student in studying both theoretical material from the discipline and in mastering practical skills.

All teachers are constantly improving their professional skills in advanced training courses in pedagogy and therapeutic dentistry, attend national and international conferences. The department holds methodical meetings, where teachers report on advanced technologies, which they learned in the improvement courses. The team has prepared materials for test control of knowledge of all content and final modules from 2 to 5 courses, methodological developments for practical classes, lectures and test control of basic knowledge for students. Since January 2017, the department has introduced an electronic learning system. In order to determine the longevity of knowledge according to the schedules, comprehensive tests are conducted.

Since the autumn semester of 2016, the teaching of dental disciplines in English has been organized (Assoc. Prof. Gorzov LF, Senior Lecturer O.Ya. Bilynsky, Assistant Professor Danko EM). Methodical support for foreign students of the 2nd and 5th courses in English has been issued.

Assoc. Jupa Peter is the head of the production practice practice for 3.4 courses, thanks to which students have the opportunity to pass it in Čadka, Slovakia, in his own clinic "Petramed". There, trainees can get acquainted with the peculiarities of providing dental care in Slovakia, attend a scientific-practical conference, the winners of which have the opportunity to take part in a student conference in Brno. Jupa P. organizes an interesting cultural program for our students with visits to Vienna (Austria), Bratislava and Prague (Czech Republic).

THERAPEUTIC WORK

The clinical base of the department is represented by 4 clinical halls with 7 modern dental units on the basis of the "University Dental Clinic", where teachers can fully demonstrate all the features of clinical reception and management of dental patients, help students master the necessary clinical skills and pro- during clinical practice.

EDUCATIONAL WORK

The department teaches specialized disciplines in all sections of therapeutic dentistry for students of the Faculty of Dentistry: The main disciplines taught at the department are: "Propaedeutics of therapeutic dentistry" for the 2nd year, clinical courses of the course "Therapeutic dentistry" for the 3rd , 4th and 5th courses for domestic and foreign students, "Fundamentals of Dentistry" - for medical students 5 years of study.

On the basis of the department training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff is carried out through postgraduate studies, clinical residencies and master's degrees.

Also on the basis of the department there is a circle on therapeutic dentistry, where students have the opportunity to learn about the latest protocols for the treatment and prevention of dental diseases.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

On the basis of the department there are scientific circles, within which scientific work is carried out among students of the dental faculty and young scientists of the department. The results of the groups' work are presented by students not only at domestic but also at international conferences, from which they return not only with new impressions, but also with prizes.

Assoc. Kostenko SB on the basis of the department conducts a circle on tooth restoration, where students with the help of various modern filling materials try to recreate the natural anatomy of teeth.

The teaching staff takes an active part in the sports life of the university (for example, the sports event "Dean's Cup").

Taking into account the current requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine regarding the work of educational institutions, it is possible to form the following tasks facing the staff of the department:

• to provide training of students at a modern level with the use of the latest materials and technologies. This will be facilitated by cooperation agreements with other higher education institutions, departments and companies (for example, a cooperation agreement with the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry of Odessa State Medical University, with the company 3M);
• to introduce more widely into the educational process the teaching methods received by the teachers of the department during the advanced training courses in pedagogy.
• to prepare new tests, situational tasks, theoretical questions for classroom work of students;
• update the database of control materials to the content modules and final control of knowledge of domestic and foreign students;
• to introduce more widely the exchange of experience of pedagogical work among teachers of the department by means of reports at methodical meetings;
• to activate the scientific work of teachers of the department in terms of performing departmental and individual research papers and dissertations;
• to intensify the publishing, patent information and innovation work of teachers.
